They say that it is a myth that voting for strike action strengthens the unions negotiating hand, and that in any event they have no more money so you will just have to live with the below inflation rate of 2.5% or lump it.
They say we are losing business giving the false impression that we are losing money and are in danger of going out of business.
They say that their Business plan is the best way forward and that all their experts and advices agree with them this is a lie Ian Griffiths did not agree (see below)
They say that they are not trying to undermine the Union; they say that they are willing to meet the union at any time to try to avoid a dispute.
The Real Facts
The facts that 77.5% of our members agree with the union that Royal Mails pay offer is insulting and that the disastrous business plan would destroy the postal service and savagely cut terms and conditions has not weakened the unions position it has greatly strengthened its negotiating hand as it demonstrates that we are speaking for those we represent.
They say that there is no more money available so they can’t improve their offer, yet they have managed to find plenty of money for the following:
• Leighton & Crozier have just paid themselves a Bonus of £370,000 each.
• £16Million for over 2500 large screen TV’s for their propaganda.
• Just about to pay all Managers a bonus of between £1,991- £2,600 next week.
• £1Million to pay off Ian Griffiths, Managing Director, Royal Mail Letters.
Royal Mail is losing Business in respect that Royal Mail no longer has a monopoly, however we currently have 94% of market share and are currently making hundreds of £Millions in profit. So while it is true that they are not making as much money as they would like, they are still making £Millions week in and week out, do not believe their misinformation that they are losing money and can not afford to improve their offer, they can, they just choose not too.
They Sacked Ian Griffiths the former Managing Director of Royal Mail Letters after he told Leighton and Crozier that there business plan was unworkable and unrealistic and would lead to both Industrial Action and an unacceptable decline in the Postal Service that we are supposed to provide.
Leighton has told his senior managers that he intends to crush the CWU just as he did to the GMB at ASDA and says that he will treat us like the miners, now you know what he thinks of you, all of you.
They say that they are happy to meet the union; unfortunately so far they have been unwilling to enter into talks and just keep saying like it or lump it. This is not negotiation it is dictation. |
